Has anybody noticed the two ways a basic 1 2 3 is being performed. I have on a 98 Blackpool tape in slow motion of a couple who are still highly placed today. He drives on 1 ,then from way behind he swings the LF to step 2. At this point there are two very straight legs. He appears to close using the power from 1 and the swing to arrive at that point. The other way is as usuall drive on 1. bring the LF under the body on an & count. Flex the right knee and then push to the side for 2. The push onto step 2, the width is nowhere near as wide as the first example and appears to have more rise. There is always the possibility that the 98 guy has now changed his technique. He is still in the top 12.
