Slow Dance (aka incorrectly as Night Club Waltz)and/or Merengue

Also "Mosh Pit" dancing which appears only to have rise and fall and horizontal if you're being passed over the heads of the crowd.

Hi to All,
The easiest dance I ever learnt was the ‘Y' dance. Just one move. The girl lays across the knee and the boy says,'Why dance.'?

Merengue is the easiest partner dance.

Curious. I can beat that. Just stay in bed and dream about dancing. Actualy in the smothh dances the basic quickstep is the best as it can be dance at any tempo and is great for slow four beat social dances.

When i first learnt to dance many years ago, the Quickstep was always the first to be learn. Which i believe to be the easiest of the International Style. The hardest of all the dances by far is the Samba.

In smooth dances the Waltz is what I always started out with. the tempo is easy to catch on.

Monica. When you become a good dancer you will find that the slow foxtrot is the easiest dance and the waltz the hardest and most tiring. John

Another vote for the merengue as the easiest of the ballroom dances to learn. At least for us it was. I also agree with the person who said the waltz was the most draining, if you are doing rise/fall and big steps, it really wears out your legs.

So many variables! Do you mean from the point of view of a competitor, or of a social dancer, or of a complete novice?

Each dance requires steps and technique. Which are the easiest steps? Which the easiest technique?

The waltz, it can be argues, requires the fewest steps to be learned. But it needs a lot of technique.

The merengue does require Latin hip motion, so I doubt that a complete novice would find it the easiest. Same goes for chacha, mambo, rhumba, etc....

East Coast Swing requires you to learn a fair number of steps, but very little technique (at least at first), so I think I would suggest ECS for a complete novice.

My 2cents worth.
Jerry
