Hi,
Would you not agree that there is a point on balance at the full extent of the stride?

You also balance into the ball of the supporting foot before the walk. So that's two for you Puzzled.

"Would you not agree that there is a point on balance at the full extent of the stride?"

Abosolutely not. If you reach one, you have stepped beyond the point targeted by your body's momentum. This is fine to do as an exercise, but it does not (at least should not) occur in actual dancing.

Let's try to get agreement on what we're talking about and not all use our own definitions.
There's obviously no static balance in normal walking, since we don't stop moving.
Dynamic balance?? Not sure how to define this, but presumably when walking we're 'dynamically balanced' all the time, otherwise we'd stumble in some way.

A Definition of Balance. Balance is the correct weight distribution between moving feet. If you disagree then be constructive and write your definition. Please note I've wrote, 'between moving feet'

First that's an odd definition of balance. But second there is not distribution between moving feet - the weight is entirely on one foot or the other. Plus it's pretty hard to have moving feet (plural) unless you are a quadraped

I disagree, Suom. Read a description of a forward walk in any technical manual. So what's your difinition, please?

Hi Anon
Do you mean the part where it reads, 'At the full extent of the stride the weight is equally divided between the heel of the front foot and the toe of the back foot.'? Which to me means that both feet are involved in keeping the balance. Thanks for your input.

don't actually do that when dancing, only if you pause to demonstrate the position. zero time is spent there when dancing

Better tell Jonathan that. He's wrote it wrong on the forward walk.
