Hi Kittie
i'm not a qualified medical person, but have lots of experience of sports injuries, including ankle problems.
First, make sure it is a muscle problem and not ligaments or achilles tendon problem. sometimes hard to tell, but ligament or tendon problems tend to linger on for weeks or months (depends on your age).
Your muscles are being used in a new way, so they will be a bit sore. After a month or so, the strength will build up and the problem will go. Make sure you stretch after dancing. Do a calf stretch. Hold it for at least 20 seconds, relax and then repeat.
It's hard to diagnose remotely. If i were in your position, i'd go to a good physiotherapist
