That's right, he'll be nervous, too.

Be friendly to him. That will help both your nerves.

But remember, this is dancing as a sport. It's not personal boy-girl touching. The goal is to learn the dances and do well in the competition. He is your teammate. You need to be in contact with your teammate for your team to do your dance steps correctly. So be matter-of-fact about dancing with him, don't get giggly or act embarrassed, just follow your teacher's instructions about when and how to get into dance position with your partner, and focus on learning your dances. You'll be fine.
