"You have avoided the issue. I will ask again phrases differently and more direct. If i lower my front heel to the floor whilst going forward while my legs are apart how on earth can my weight be in front of the front foot."

It was aleady point out to you that the weight in front of both feet is a feature of the BEGINNING OF A STEP,

while the situation being debated is the LATTER HALF OF A STEP.

Why you do insist on CONFUSING the first half a step with the second?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Just one question just one answer. If my weight has moved from my heels to the balls of the feet is the weight over, or in front of my feet.
Part 2. You tell me on a Feather Step where does the techniqiue book say the rear foot should be at the time the heel lowers to the floor on step three. This is the International style and not the American. You know the book. Lower at the end of three. As we all know the step ends as the moving foot comes under the body. So according to the book where should the moving foot be at the time the heel lowers at the end of step three. Its hard getting through to you. I think I need an Aspirin. You do understand that according to the correct technique book. YOU LOWER AT THE END OF STEP THREE AND NOT BEFORE.You would have us lowering far too early. You can do this if you wish, but keep it to yourself. Alex would not have liked it. Dont forget. Lower at the end of step three is the correct way.

You haven't provided enough infomration about the situation you are asking about. We can't know that without knowing where your body is.

For example, when the 3rd step of the feather is placed, you body is probably located behind the foot, but the weight would obviously be on the toe, since the heel is not yet touching the floor.

"Part 2. You tell me on a Feather Step where does the techniqiue book say the rear foot should be at the time the heel lowers to the floor on step three."

What I've been telling you over and over again, is that IT DOES NOT SAY WHERE IT SHOULD BE _FOR_THAT_FIGURE_.

"Lower at the end of three."

That is in fact where most of the lowering occurs. But not where ALL of it occurs.

"So according to the book where should the moving foot be at the time the heel lowers at the end of step three."

BIG MISTAKE! You've assumed that the "lower" refers specifically to the heel. It DOES NOT!

"You would have us lowering far too early."

So are you willing to say that Jonathan LOWERS TOO EARLY in his video?

Or will you attempt to deny the OBVIOUS FACT that he has in fact done precisely the action that I've been arguing for?

Is the lowering you mentioned according to the book. Which is at the end of step three.
Harry Smith- Hampshire
If you can answer that correctly then you have answered one of the questions he would ask an adjudicator passing their examination. And that is. According to the manuel as the heel on the third step of a Feather touches the floor where should the moving foot be. Just a very simple answer will do. But from the correct technique as mentioned in the book.

If its in the book its correct. if it isn' t it is an adaption. I would suggest that you go to a video by one of your Blackpool Champions and see what their method of adaption is regarding the lowering at the end of the third step . That is the end of the third step as written in the technique books. You cannot keep guiding people into your own idiosyincrasies. Become a fundamentalist. The only way to teach is in the pure form.

You must not have been paying attention when I told you that I learned this during a private lesson FROM A MULTI-TIME BLACKPOOL CHAMPION. I then double checked the answer, by asking the same person again, and then ANOTHER BLACKPOOL CHAMPION.

This is the weirdest conversation, seriously. You guys sound so funny.

Anonymous, why don't you just ask someone else instead of carrying all this on?? -or, it sounds like you like to carry it on, like it's fun.

oh well, I hope you sort out your dilemma.

I don't have any dilemma about this.

I'm quite happy with the answer I received from two of the best dancers in the world.

And I find it a bit more than coincidental that Jonathan's feather step and quickstep videos demonstrate how this detail can add to the quality of movement. I'd actually guess that many people out there are doing it without even knowing that they are, because they've simply moved towards doing what works best.

Provided you plan on using a lot of knee bend in your lowering, it is plainly necessary get the heel down relatively early, before you bend your knee. If you keep the heel up until your feet are closed, you'll miss the chance to descend on a smooth path towards a deeply bent knee.
