Re: How to Study for Ballroom/Latin Dance!

DivaGinger, I don't even dance,...but dance is my greatest hobby. I receive so much joy (and pain) from it...through my daughter.

She just took her first ballroom class and once again...it was a high for me. First it was a rumba class then an open house (a studio promo thing). The rumba instructor is a current blackpool champ. (female) and is from Russia. She seemed attracted to my daughter and used her to demonstrate. It was beautiful. At the open house class...they had all the instructors there. I don't think any of them could take their eyes off of my daughter. It looked like they were rushing to dance with her. They knew she was a salsa champ and one pro. had a talent for salsa....and danced salsa with her. He was smiling ear to ear while dancing. Afterwards, I set up a private and my daughter chose the rumba teacher. She is so excited. Then I talked with the owner and told him to please have the instructors take care of Missy. He said he will tell them to make her a future world champion. I was very greatful.

Later, my daughter and I were researching the U.S.A. youth champs that she would be competing against should she find a great partner. She was pleased to find out that the #1 ranked U.S.A. latin junior champ is a boy she competed with in ballet many years ago. (I wish he and Missy could be partners...they would make a great couple). She is so looking forward to competing.

Could anyone possibly understand how a young dancer can take her first "real" ballroom class and already be thinking about world class competition? Simply see my daughter dance and you would understand.
I just hope that she is getting as much joy from it as I am. She assures me she is.

...and all this is just a typical day with my daughter in her dance world.

P.S. My 8 yr. old is an actress. She just starred in a lifetime movie called Little Girl Lost: The Delimar Vera Story ...she played Delimar. She currently has a Burger King commercial airing.
