When I taught out at our high school, the kids would post things like this on local message boards to collect email addresses.

There was something going around, "Sign up this many people to this list, and you get a PRIZE!" very similar to that god-awful fundraising crap they make kids peddle for band uniforms and stuff, only... you didn't get any stale brownies or multi-colored Thomas Kincaide Popcorn with Extra Piety in aBlazingly Redundant Impressionism Collector Tin of Flea-Market Quality.
