It looks like you have two user accounts that were created back-to-back, so perhaps you were trying to use the key for the wrong account.

However, I'm curious about what you mean by "upgrade". To create a free user account initially, you receive an email with a code that proves you are the owner of the email address. Once you've done that, there are no more codes. This includes upgrading our account to Premium. If you already have a user account and just want to upgrade it to Premium, you don't need a code.
