Justin,

I agree with Phil... live classes and/or lessons is definitely the way to go. Video or DVD instruction is a great supplement to lessons, but rarely useful as a lone source of instruction for someone just starting out.

Unless you're in a remote area of the Gobi desert, there is probably a studio somewhere in your area offering some group classes. If not, there may be a college or community center, or at the very least, an individual teacher. Let us know where you live, and we can try to help you find something.

The Ballroomdancers.com directory is a good place to start looking: https://www.ballroomdancers.com/Directory/. You can also try dancescape.com, dancevision.com, and dancedirectory.com. Or even look in your local telephone directory!

As for DVD's: They haven't quite caught on in the ballroom dance world yet. If you still have one of those things we used to call a VCR, there are plenty of options. The best selection, as Ralph mentioned, is at dancevision.com. They're a bit pricey, but the quality is good.

Good luck with your search!

Regards,
Jonathan Atkinson
