I have just realized that there are actually video clippings available right here on this website! This is exciting! I now have to ensure that it is accessible for viewing on my computer.
I agree very much with you that spending money for private lesson merely tyring to learn the figures is not effective at all. I will try to learn them through videos and during group classes. The private lessons will be used for "polishing" up and learning to dance with a professional partner. The coach's undivided attention during private class will allow him to spot and correct my mistakes.
As you had mentioned, bad partners can cause me to get into bad habits. This has been my experience with some of the partners I've partnered with. There was one occassion when my partner was pushing me like a door the entire class. (sorry, I didn't intend to sound mean). I was stucked with him for 4 classes, since I didn't have a partner and everyone else already had partners. I know that there are times when other partners I've had might have felt the same way towards the mistakes I was making.
I will try to find out where there may be people who dance around in San Francisco. Any suggestions out there? The ones I have tried to research are either children, teenagers or seniors. I've checked out on the local universities in my area, students are only interested in fulfilling their credits during class. Competitive universities are far out such as Stanford.
I guess, learning from my male coach will be a better idea for now. I may try to take classes from the female coach when I get better. In the meantime, I will also try to post and ask around for any male partners who may be interested.
Nevertheless, your input has been inspiring and as provided me with more ideas. I appreciate you for taking the time to do so! Thanks Dronak!
