I did not understand the instruction in lady's part . It should be turn to left . shouldn't it ?
What does it look like in " chase" reverse turn comparing with reverse turn?
Is it possible to show the action and reaction, especially the foot work and hip in your media clip...
Gracias,
ylchen

For the most part, the chasse reverse turn is 123 of a waltz reverse turn transplanted to quickstep.

In the historical usage, chasse refers to closing the feet - it doesn't actually require opening them again as we do in all the other figures called chasse.

Warning: 456 of the waltz reverse does not exist in syllabus quickstep. The heel pivot (quarter turn to left) is very similar for the lady, but the man takes only one step rather than three.

Yichen 1. I would give the Chasse Reverse turn away if I were you. I have found that studios who still teach this one have no width to their studio and consequently teach a Spin Turn , a Heel Pivot ) which it is not a Heel Turn for the man.( side together for the lady ) into the Chasse Reverse Turn. Replace this one with a Quick Open Reverse and a Chasse finish. Don't be misled by the term Quick Open Reverse
It only means both lady and man pass their feet on the second and third steps.CBMP on the third step is a must.

one good reason for doing a chasse reverse instead of a quick open reverse is that the formers is bronze while the latter is silver - so only the chasse reverse is an option of beginning competitors.

Hi Jon,
Unfortunately, I learn the term and the pattern from vedios such as "Win with Basic" or " simply the best" and your website . I tried to find good text book from my friends and niece, but failed. I had discuss with my teacher , he seems to dislike discussing. My role is to hear and to follow ! He said: "maybe after 4-5 years , you might discuss with me about the dance , but not now!!"( He still a good teache generally.)
If you have time, would you please detail the quick oper reverse and chasse finish ? ( I knew open natural .)

Yichen 1. From the book by Alex Moore
page 95. Quick Open Reverse Turn ladies steps. Commence backing LOD.
1. Right foot back turning to the left.
2. Small step to the side and slightly foreward with the left foot.
3. Right foot foreward down LOD outside partner.
4. Left foot foreward in line with man.
Rise and fall.Rise at the end of one NFR
( body rise only ) up on two and three lowering on the end of three.
Footwork . T.H. T. T H. H.
CBM on 1. and 4. CBMP on step three .
Finish with a Progressive Chasse, the last step of the Reverse Turn will be the first step of the Progressive Chasse
Sway to the right on two and three.
Amount of Turn. A half a turn over the first three steps. The man's steps will be the natural opposite to the ladies. The Progressive Chasse will finish diag to wall ready for a Lockstep.

The quick open reverse is just a reverse roles feather finish, with the exception that the man has toe only on step 2 wheras the lady has TH/NFR when she does the similar action on step 2 of the feather finish. (The footwork for step 1 is trivially different as a result of needing to aim for a different action on 2)

Anonymous. Not quite what we are refering to. You have gone into a Four Quick Run which has the feet passing on step 3 into a Lock RF behind LF. Timing is S Q. Q . Q. Q. S. S. finishing right foot foreward O/S partner. page 95 Alex Moore. Footwork THT. T. T. T. T. TH

No, we were talking about the quick open reverse vs. the chasse finish. You posted footwork for the quick open reverse, I pointed out it was essentially a reverse roles feather finish.

Now you post a different group... a good one to FOLLOW the quick open reverse... but you are the one changing the subject.
