Springer is bringing the show down, because he can't dance he's making it a comedy show, andd that's not fair to the other stars and viewers.

I have to agree with you, Vincent. Last week, Jerry was entertaining but this week he was being very silly. I did not like it at all. I didn't care for Monique's dance either so these two might be in the bottom two. Unfortunately, this competition has become a popularity contest, so who knows.

Reminded me of Roller Derby:

Down by 4 the home team needs 5 on the last jam to win and wouldn't you know it they get 5 every time.

The fix was in to boost the ratings by having the underdog pull it off.

Cheesy.

Too bad as the show had developed a following without the demeaning result.

Now I'm not sure I'll watch it again.

Crimson tear. I don't know if you had a public vote or not. We did. With the public vote you will always get some funny results. It can't be avoided. In our first series and the second the results were very fair. It was in the earlier rounds where thing were a bit funny. Just for the record tennis player Leyton Hewitt's fiance Bec Cartwright was the winner partnered by Michael Mitzner, their presentation was brilliant. This was the first series.

What a joke - Kelly got 10 from all so-called judges.

You kind of knew going in that even if John outscored Kelly, the audience was going to vote for Kelly.

I agree, the perfect 10's were a joke. Kelly can't dance, she just let Alec carry her all over the floor. The judges should have taken the pro lead into account, and not judged the freestyle as a whole, but on how well Kelly was dancing. John O'Hurley did an amazing job when you think about it. The amatuer gentlemen in a pro/am partnership is always going to be at a disadvantage compared to the amatuer female pro/am partnership.

Hopefully, the show will get more people into ballroom dance studios, but it's sad that there are some misrepresenations. If they're going to hold the audience's attention for another season, they better get some more well known stars and new judges.

Good points, laughable. I thought in pro/am competitions, they judges were supposed to be judging the amateurs, at least primarily. I couldn't beleive the perfect 10s either, especially from Carrie Ann who gave them a 7 for their first dance that night and had repeatedly said in previous weeks that John and Charlotte were the couple to beat. It's possible that because the judges gave 9s to John and Charlotte's freestyle dance, when they thought Kelly and Alec's was better, they had no place to go but to a 10. (Whether it was better or not I won't argue.) Still, I find it hard to believe that all three judges watching one couple for the entire dance, and having the abililty to focus on the one amateur person in the couple, would find absolutely nothing wrong that was worth a deduction in points.

And you're right about the amateur female having an advantage. When I talked to my mom about the show, I told her that, too. If the woman knows some basic moves, how to move, and react to a lead, an experienced man can lead her through all sorts of stuff. It's generally harder for an experienced woman to help a man in the same way without actively backleading. I was glad to see that an amateur man did make it to the finals because I wasn't sure any would.

I think it's too bad that John who was the consistently better dancer didn't win; I think he really deserved to. But like Onlooker notes, when you have a fan vote, odd things can happen, especially since they're generally not trained in the field to know what to look for. In the case of the finals, the judging method (listed at ABC) seems to indicate that the fans' vote determined the winner, regardless of what the judges said. Apparently, if the judges and fans tie, they go to numbers in the fans' vote. So even if the judges put John first and the fans put Kelly first, the judges vote meant nothing -- Kelly would have won because she got more fan votes. Even if the judges' vote meant nothing in the last round, I still would have prefered to see them give 1st to the couple that really deserved it. At least in the case of a tie with the fans' vote breaking it, you can clearly blame the uninformed fans. But I suspect some sort of fixing was going on if all three judges were willing to give Kelly perfect 10s on her final dance. Insurance that the rags to riches story of the comeback kid paid off with the big, final, championship victory?
