Chinese couples win both rising Stars Modern and Latin at Blackpool.

What is modern? Is it American Smooth, Internatinal Standard, Cabaret, or Theater Art?

Is there a website that can give us updated information on Blackpool results? I wonder why it is not televised in the USA and anywhere.
It is the most premier ballroom event in the world? The only thing that I have seen is very expensive dvds or tapes of Blackpool that come out about 6 mo. or a year after the competition.

Modern is int'l standard. In Britain it is called modern to differenciate it from 'old time' a.k.a. 'sequence'. It is the largest and the premiere event in the world- you can check out clips of it at http://danceuniverse.co.kr/video/dayvideo.php It's not televised i would guess so organizers can continue making $ w/ticket and video sales. Also, Winter Gardens is an old beautiful building and Blackpool is a comp steeped in tradition- i don't think they want camera men running around. Only 4 photographers are allowed on the floor at a time.

Jim. The Modern and Latin Rising Stars was an Amateur event. The Profession Latin Rising Stars the results have been posted Modern Professional Rising Stars, The results are just in. Still to come are the big ones Professional Open Modern and Latin. To get to the results an easy way to remember is go to Dancesport UK. On the left you will see Official and Unofficial Results. At this time the second choice is the better. Cameras have never been allowed into Blackpool. Only the Official Quasar Video people. I doubt if it will ever be live or otherwise on TV. Ordinary snap shot cameras are permitted in the afternoon sessions not the evening sessions. No cameras of any kind can be used. There is no American Smooth, or English Old time at this event which started on the 26th May to the 2nd June. There is usually 280, or upwards, couples competing in each event. That is why it is the biggest event on the calender.Outside the ballroom there is a large area where you can buy any instruction Tapes or DVD or CD's. Quasar Video have a stand among many others with a row of TV's showing the different instruction stuff for sale. If its shoes your after , go no further. As you can imagine the atmosphere is electric. Nothing ever ends untill well after midnight sometimes about one in the morning as will the very last event The Professional Open Modern. See you there one day. One last thing. The whole of Blackpool is a holiday resort. Tons of accommodation. I've never ever booked ahead yet.
