Waltz music less than 30 years old

OK. here is the challenge--ALL the waltz CD's I have purchased so far have rather old songs on them. This not totally a problem because I love the old songs.

However, I would like some very modern waltz music. Something different from the older music.

Instrumental only would be very nice.

Recorded with the strict dance temp would be even better!

I can do 3 hours of waltz music at 28 and 29.

I'd like more variety though.

I KNOW there must be SOMETHING out there.

I guess it would be too much to ask that it all be on a single CD, and all waltz....

I've been limiting myself to buying CD's that are just Waltz music because I figure I will add other types LATER. So maybe I am missing some wonderful stuff, or maybe not.

Have you sifted through the selections on this site? There are some 338 listings for Waltz music. Admittedly, most are older pieces.

I've seen very few Waltz only collections. Tango only falls off of trees, but not Waltz only.

Yes, I've read my way through and most of it is older, and some of it I do not recognize if it is old or new.

I was hoping some people here had favorite new music that was waltz and could tell a poor modern musically ignorant person what musician did it and on which album?

...." I can do 3 hours of waltz music at 28 and 29."....

I assume that's measures per minute and not your age. Don't get too carried away with collecting only the very slow waltzes. The slow ones are more difficult than the fast ones. It's a lot more difficult to do rise and fall in slow motion and make it smooth. Actually there is a fairly narrow speed range where waltz works best. That's about 28 to 30 (or maybe 28 to 32 for bronze). Anything outside that range requires extra skill to execute smoothly. I'm a fan of slow waltzes too. They allow more time for executing the fancy steps, but they are more difficult.

Sorry I can't help with new waltz songs. Everything I have is old, and I kinda like it that way. Most of the old songs that are still around are very good, and they are still around because they are very good. The poor old songs have mostly been forgotten.

Actually, I love the slow waltzes because it challenges the tone and strength in my body. A big reason I took up ballroom is that I needed exercise I loved enough to do a lot.

So Ballroom became the structure for all my exercise, my trainer and my chiropractor (old injuries-my youth was fun but left some damage-LOL!) understood and structured what they were helping me to do around the goals I was working on with ballroom.

I love how focused I must be to do the waltz correctly to slow music.

Hubby likes Tango, so I'm now adding Tango music!

kaiari. Many tunes can be adapted and turned into a Waltz. But in the distant days music was written with the thought in mind that it would be danced to. If we go back some twenty years or further what better than " Jesse Come Home ". or " With Pen in Hand " or the famous and probably the most played " Moon River ". I can't think of a Waltz that is danced today that was composed this year or last ??.

I like the old stuff, but sometimes it is nice to add something new.

I guess I will ask this of our dance instructor, she caters to a lot of college age students and sometimes uses "their music" in class. I'll see if any of it is waltz.

During social dancing our dance teacher usually plays "See The Day" by Girls Aloud but I'm not sure if that's available outside the UK...
