BEVC. I take it you mean the Forward and Back Basic Steps on beats 2 3 4 and 1... 2 3 4 and 1. The answer is of course 10. What might help here is that if you step forward on your left foot the Ch Ch Cha will be to your left. If you step back with your right foot the Cha Cha Cha will be to your right . This works out the same for a New York or a Spot Turn . To the left with your RF the 4 and 1 will be to your right after turning around if this is a Spot Turn.

I think that we need to establish if this is Amer. or Intern. style..they commence in a different direction, and are prepped by different feet..

Amer.. side left back break on right as opposed to the Intern style breaking Fwd .

The American format was predicated on Rumba / Bolero.. the foundational dance of all latin in the social strata..

If you use ending 'B', with the Chasse to the side, you have 753, of course.

Can anybody explain to me what is meant by 752 or 533. And exactly what is meant by the short version and the long version. The original question was . How many steps are there in a Cha Cha.

Dear Cyd,
The short version (533) is used for the IDTA one dance test, and the long version (752) is for the ISTD bronze. Hope this helps.

Telemark . How deep is the ocean. How far is the journey from here to a star.
How many steps in a Ch Cha . There is no answer. It depends on me and the duration of the disk, plus are we dancing to 30 or 32 bars per minute.
