Waltz--
Melissa Manchester, If My Heart had Wings
Kenny Loggins--Run for the Roses
Kathy Mattea (CW)--Life As We Knew It
Eagles--Take it to the Limit
James Taylor--Sweet Baby James
Olivia Newton John--Sam
Patty Loveless (CW)--You Don't Even Know Who I Am

*these aren't "exact tempo", but they are all in the right range and are excellent practice tunes for social dancing

BTW another great song on the Mel. Manchester CD is "Crazy People" a really great and fun QStep

Morella, you are now on my cool list for also thinking 3 Libras by A Perfect Circle and Fiction by Orgy would be good songs to dance to.

I think I shall also add to this thread as well.

Tavares - It Only Takes A Minute - Hustle

Bus Stop - Long Train Runnin - Hustle

Captain T. - La Senorita - Salsa

Bambee - Caribbean Blue - Samba

Captain Jack - Iko Iko - Samba

Faye Wong - Eyes On Me - Bolero
(From Final Fantasy 8)

Garbage - Special - Swing

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters - V. Waltz

Tori Amos - Wednesday - Quickstep/ V. Waltz Medley

Enigma - Gravity Of Love - Bolero

Sarah Sleen - Sweet Ones - Fox Trot

Silverchair - Miss You Love - V. Waltz

I took myself a little break and havent looked around much lately but I found a few that kind of dropped into my lap via the radio.

Stella Solia - Kiss,Kiss - Samba
Now this song was also done by Gizelle D'Cole whos self tittled album has a few salsa's, merengues and even a hustle.

The newest album by Enya has a few V. Waltz's on it that are very pretty and the album itself is great.

Now this one is a Disney Soundtrack -
yeah I know

Rhythm of the pridelands, this is where disney was trying to take up on the success of the Lion King soundtrack by spitting out the closest thing to it as soon as they could....
The song "He lives in you" on the album is very pretty and worked nicely as a Rumba show dance.
Also the song "Lea Halalela" was another nice Rumba.

In New York if you listen to 106.7 Lite FM or
95.5 WPLJ you will hear a lot of music that is danceable. Surprise as it is most 80's music is good for Rumba's, Swing's and Hustles. If you see a mixed 80's CD you might want to pick it up. There will more than likely be a bunch of danceable songs.

I love finding non-traditional music to dance to, particularly pop music.

Rumbas:
Unwell by Matchbox Twenty
Complicated by Avril Lavingne
Everytime by Britney Spears
2 Become 1 by the Spice Girls
Incomplete by the Backstreet Boys
This I Promise You by NSYNC
My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion
Fields of Gold by Sting

I'm sure there are hundreds more out there, but these are all I can think of off the top of my head. "Complicated" is a bit quick, but I think it's a lot of fun!

Most of this music is only of value if it is classified into ,internationl srict tempo, american and social. But who has the time or the knowledge.

Morella. Try for a Rumba, The Lady in Red. sung by the composer Chris De Burgh. Or Blessed by Elton John
