I have had over 50 dance teachers in 7 yrs of dancing. About 5 of them were primary or sort of coachs. Dance teachers like partners come and go. Harsh teachers can be tolerated if they are extemely good. The Russian system has some very harsh teachers in Russia, but they usually mellow out in the US.

The teacher I have now is very laid back but deceptive and effective on how she will get you to learn.

This sounds like possibly one of your first of a few teachers.

Move on if you don't feel comfortable and don't like their teaching style.
I have found it best to just hire teachers for durations to work on specific things. You are the boss and it's your money.

Sounds like someone needs a HUG.

You might want to think twice about changing studios, if the other options aren't that great. It does sound like whatever's going on with your instructor, it's her problem. It sounds like the studio itself is very supportive of you and will find you another instructor. Don't let her chase you away if this studio really is the best place for you.

You should request to work with another instructor at the studio that you do like. This way you will be happy and your old teacher will get the picture that you aren't into lessons with her. No need to get into the details, that message is loud and clear.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone.
Quit my old studio today finally after two more failed attempts to communicate with my instructor.
It was a bit dramatic but anyway. I found a studio that I really like the space, rather close to were I live (10 mins walk) I dont know how good the instructors are but you dont know until you study with someone do you?

And I guess my old instructor will find a way to explain why her most eager student quit five days before the showcase :)

*hugs*
