Unforetunately not all teachers, teach or practise courtesy. The most inconsiderate dancer I have encountered, was a teacher. She had the attitude, I am good, so everyone should make room for me. Foretunately she rarely goes dancing socially.

Unforetunately she teaches young people, who really need to courtesy part of dance training.

Most of the teachers are extremely courteous and have excellent floorcraft.

This is precisely the reason I prefer to go to the studio for socials, rather than a club. The studio doesn't serve alcohol and there is no problem with people getting drunk and trying to dance.

In the words of Randall Ipswitch, "Where do I go? Clubs? ... I hate clubs!"

In southeast Wisconsin, we are fortunate to have a third option, which is numerous people and clubs who hosts dances in large venues, specifically for ballroom and swing dancing.

Venues range from church fellowship halls to actual ballrooms.

We also have one beautiful old ballroom were the primary busines is ballroom dancing.

We hve been dancing over 5 years at these dances and seeing someone who has drank enough to effect their dancing, is extremely rare. Some of the dances do not even have alcohol.

I suppose we are fortunate that we have no alchol available in our dance studios. If it is a major competition at a special venue then there would be a bar that belongs to the venue. If they relied on customers they would go broke with the amount of money that would be spent by dancers there.
The most dangerous dancers are those with limited experience or no common sense. Give them a routine and they have to dance it A to Z no matter what or who is in their path.
