Dearest JJ, Maybe such an pompus old windbag, such as yourself, should not be watching anyway!
When Mr. Smith won, the next Tuesday we started dancing lessons, and we have NOT quit, yet! In fact, My husband drove me 6 hours, to take a private lesson from Victor Fung & Anna, and 6 hours back - worth every minute.
I have had 5 spine surgeries, ending in screws, plates,& rods. It was my very last hope for a little Phy. Ther. after 10 years of searching every exercise under the sun! And if I don't say so myself, I am getting a lot better at my Ballroom & Latin. So, quit being a "bummer" man, and take television for what it is worth, relaxation and it's exscapist value! DWTS changed my life - so my advice do NOT watch the show. Your probably just mad that you can never be as HOT, as Maks!

Yes, doll, I spend my nights in bitter fulmination over my lack of physical perfection.

As for you, I'm very happy that you enjoy dancing and have found some relief from your misery.

Some folks enjoy watching DWTS; I enjoy poking fun at it - and will continue to do so. Perhaps, you shouldn't read my posts if they upset you.

I hope that you and your husband enjoy dancing for a long time to come.

jofjonesboro. Your playing with fire if you criticize Dancing with the Stars. You can write that you dont agree with the judges mark or the publics. But the program is so popular around the world I think it speaks for itself. The first time it went to air in the UK, wasn't it six million phone votes on one episode. Ours starts next week and is more than popular. You will of course be glued to your TV as I will be with ours.

You have to wonder if Ty Murray's going to have any problems with pelvic isolations... *snicker*. (They DID settle on him, didn't they? I haven't even kept up with it.)

I'm sure that you will be glued to your TV, Polished, because I'm absolutely certain that you won't be on a dance floor anywhere.

Yes, I know that DWTS is popular.

So was Milton Berle in his day. His show was, in fact, the most popular on television.

Do you know what Milton always said to his writers? "Make it lappy."

What did he mean by "lappy"? He meant to make the humor so broad and so simplistic that anyone with an IQ one point above that of single-celled microorganisms could get it.

DWTS is doing the same thing with ballroom dancing: they make their particular view of it popular by simplifying it - bastardizing it actually - to the point that it's barely recognizable to anyone who has taken even one lesson.

Truthfully, I may watch one or two of the first few episodes because I like Corky Ballas; I consider him to be one of the most entertaining individuals in the dance business. After he and Cloris are eliminated - and they won't be around for long - this particular session of DWTS will lose what little charm it may have for me.

If you or anyone else truly enjoys this show then my jesting shouldn't matter one bit. I hope that you enjoy watching it. I personally have better things to do - like being in a studio myself. Actually dancing is always better than watching it.

Watching actual dancing is also always better than watching DWTS. Storytime:

My partner and I caught wind that there was *gasp! sigh!* a DWTS road-show/tour... and it was coming to Nashville. We thought "ooh, it' HAS to be better than the TV version"... right?

Wrong.

We wasted about two hundred bucks on the tickets. After seating ourselves next to pudgy quilters with rowdy kids and sweaty cokes brushing our ankles, we watched exactly half the DWTS tour show from our nosebleed seats in the Intergalactic Senate aka Gaylord, and WALKED OUT. We went back to the Starz competition, caught the end of it, then went to the practice area and worked on technique so we wouldn't be rusty after three days away from home studio.

Somehow, the words "Disaster" and "Lamentable Mess" pop into mind.

We (the ballroom dancing community) could vote Corky and Cloris back on--isn't that how this show works? But, I guess, we will be up against some stiff "competition."

jofjonesboro. Have you ever seen Milton Berle in the film " Always leave them Laughing ".
The show Dancing with the Star where I live. The contestants are supposed not to have seriously danced before. They are beginners. Of course you are going to cringe if you are a trained dancer.
One other thing. Why are so many of you using abreviations. To me it seems that your brains are travelling at 1000 miles an hour. Slow down. When somebody wrote HC I thought they meant a Hover Cross and not a Hesitation Change. It does seem to be an American thing.
You can always record the program and still not miss your dance classes. I think you mentioned Kym Johnson. Is't she worth looking at. TTFN.
