I'm really curious to know what kind of comb you guys are using to get to THIS degree of nitpicking. Boy, if I'd had that during the summer after third grade...

I think it's either too much testosterone, or the mistaken belief that this is a rather grand and import forum for the display of one's erudition, and self-importance.

It's very funny, for the most part. There are few forums where the twaddle-per-inch quotient is higher, and it's always worth a glance to see what new nonsense is being pedalled by the same handful of old farts.

I'd have to say heart and intellect play a lesser role in dancing well. Determination and natural ability are the most important. Although, I'm not sure what you mean by "heart and intellect". If you mean by 'heart' a desire to do well and the courage to keep trying, then yes, heart is important. Intellect? Do you mean an ability to learn? Then again, yes it's important. That being said, I know some very good dancers for whom dancing comes as naturally as breathing. One is as dumb as a post. Intellect does not come into play. I suppose I could be described as having heart but it doesn't help my dancing much. I am not athletic and will never be a great dancer. I am well aware of my limitations. As a fellow student said to me, "I dance much better in my head." In our cases, heart and intellect does not produce the desired results.

Ladydance. I have to agree with you in most part--not about your ability per se, I hasten to add.

You know what they say about natural singers: they sing so well because of the space between their ears (resonance). I agree, in dancing, a natural coordination combined with the determination to develop and use it to its fullest make for great dancing.

Not all of us have the natural talents of a Luca or a Loraine. But I suspect that they, too, at some point had to learn how to do the Feather or the Three Step.

I wonder if it is known that even a former British Professional Champion who has retired from competition but who still gives demonstrations does take lessons . That is the only way they can retain what they had as competitors. There is no other way.
