Dancing Queen;

If you are considering competitions and are willing to work hard, take advantage of Professional Coaches that are available in the New Haven area frequently, then e-mail me at CTMiche@aol.com and I will be happy to put you in touch with a teacher who has a 5 year international competition background and close to 25 years teaching experience.

Connecticut has many studios some good and some not so great, anyone attacking either independent studios or the franchised studios has more mouth and facts. Many studios offer introductory specials and by trying a few studios you just may find the one that will bring out the dancer you're striving to achieve.

What a load of crap. There is nothing so uniquely difficult about silver material in any of the styles to justify the common studio practice of keeping people exclusively in bronze for years - that is entirely a business policy. If a student isn't ready for initial exposure to some silver material within a few months, it's because the teacher isn't doing their job - a job which includes challenging the 'student' to decide if they want to actually learn something, or simply "dance" around the room with the bronze variation of the week.

The top studio in southern CT is "Let's Dance" in Brookfield (a little north of Danbury). Lots of competitive amateurs and a good social program as well.

Not expensive - in fact, much cheaper than most. No 'contracts' - you pay as you go.

They have visiting coaches of course, but the owner was Rising Star Modern AND American Champion, and so has quite a good 'pedigree'. The Latin coach was a US finalist and has been coaching for over 25 years.

The phone # is 203-775-6300. Enjoy!!
Good studio

There is a dance studio in Flushing, Queens, called Universal Dance Studio (phone 718-661-3368), which has some students who come from CT, as there are some good teahcers there.
Those teachers are from Bulgaria and are very competent for teacing.

However, it's a very Oriental place. So when you call, they may not answer in English at first...

I think your out of luck in southern CT. since moving here I have not found one decent dance instructor. I guess real instructors are in the City, leaving the sad one in CT.
