Janet- I think I'm the only Jerry around here, at least on this thread, so I guess you are asking me....

No, I'm a sloppy American Silver level dancer, never interested in competing because I have too much fun just dancing.

And I live in Yardley, PA

Bob, How would one sign up with you to apply for a dance host job on one of the cruises that you list in this thread. I have a friend who is single and would love to get into the hosting business. He has a great personality and a lot of experience in dance.

I am going to be graduating from college in May and have spent the past 4 years dancing Latin, Swing and Ballroom, I absolutely love it and my instructors think I'm good enough to compete at a national level. I am interested if any of you have ideas of how to become an instructor on a cruise ship or even if some cruise lines have female dance hosts? I do not have enough experience at the male part to teach much beyond the basics of the main dances but I can follow really well and have a great understanding of technique. Thanks for any information you can provide me and I really enjoy reading these posts!
Thanks, Kim

Kim,
I am not an expert on the subject but on the 10 or so cruises that we have been on with dance instructors, they usually had a couple so that both parts of the dance could be shown. The exception was on one cruise where the regular instructors did not show up and they had two young girls from the Cruise Director's staff fill-in. They only knew very basic steps and we were not impressed. Good luck with your pursuits. I would try contacting the cruise lines directly to their home offices and they will either answer you or give you the name of the talent agency that they use to fill these jobs. Please look at operabob's postings above for the names of the cruise lines that seem to be more interested in dancers. I would not recommend that you try RCCL, NCL or Carnival.
