Most of the original dance instructors in Greece I have been told learned to dance in the US. And thus in Greece most dancers learn american style.

The owner of the studio I go to started dancing in Germany, international style, but she says she had to adapt when she moved back to Greece because she was the only real teacher in town for international style and all local competitions at that time were American.
Her daughter went to the US to learn to dance and now the studio is teaching both american and international.

At social level we are working mostly American as I understand it.
