Okay... my friend wants to take ballroom dancing, and his mom has no problem with it but his dad finds it "un-manly". we are trying to start a ballroom dancing club at our school, so it would be much more efficient if there were a few people who already know a little bit. please help out with the situation with advice about what he should do/ what he should say to his dad.

thx.

Has his dad ever seen ballroom dancing? And oh, I'm sure he regards football, wrestling, etc as soo much more manly since men romp around with other men in spandex and do the sports butt slap. Yeah- and ballroom "un-manly" sheesh- of course it's un-manly for a man to dance with a woman if that is one's standards of "manliness" LOL! Show him some dancing- like from a movie or comp tape or something- DAncing With the Stars stars next week :)

Ballroom isn't "un-manly" it is "gentlemanly"!!! What proud father would not want his son to act like a gentleman?? And plus, if it's so "un-manly" then why did Jerry Rice participate in the last Dancing with the Stars?? And why is Emmit Smith participating in this one? What really cracks me up is that all of the gentleman that I know who dance ballroom are in great demand with the ladies...so again, how "un-manly" can it be?

thx for that... quite a cheerer-upper!!! anyhow, i would tell cody (my friend) to have his dad watch dancing with the stars, but the ballroom class starts next monday. and, knowing his dad, i don't think he would watch it anyway. thanks for the suggestion, though... i think with the football/spandex/butt slap thing we might have him. and the comparisons to other people... fantastic... thx again!!!

Dancing is as old as time itself. Ever since man found that by banging a hollow log and it made a sound, there has been movement to sound. There has been dance.
