They were probably made from satin or possibly mesh. My teacher told me that they use to make most shoes out of satin. I don't know were your studio bought them from but you can get shoes made with satin or mesh or leather from amysafter5.com. If they don't have want you want in stock they can often times special order shoes for you. I did this once with a pair of Latin shoes that I wanted in a different color and heel height. I am sure they can probably have any of their shoes made in in a different material for you. Just email them and ask if you don't find what you are looking for on their website. It doesn't hurt to look or ask.
