I could not agree more with Lisamarie. A good teacher will have respect for his students. My teacher missed a lesson the other day, because his alarm clock had not gone off, and he fit me in another time slot, and he apologized profusely, saying that he felt it was very rude and appeared that he did not care about his students if he was late. Also, he is an incredible dancer, but never loses patience with my beginner status. A good teacher should NOT tell you that you are boring. In fact, that is ridiculous, because, all newcomers are about the same. It is a learning process. If you are "boring", then that really is the teacher's fault, NOT yours! He or she should help you to learn to be a better dancer, and the type of dancer you are totally reflects upon him or her.

I hesitate to say this, but would you consider taking lessons without your husband? It does not sound as if he is really "into" it as much as you are. You could always dance with your teacher (Pro/Am) and even compete. It is just a suggestion. There are some married women at our studio whose husbands just don't want to do it, so the women take the lessons by themselves, and dance with their teachers.
