You could try an exercise video put out by the New York City Ballet. This is pretty tough going and incorporates balance, flexibility etc.
As you're probably aware, any sporting-type activity requires general strength, flexibility and aerobic fitness, but also specific fitnesses, depending on the particular activity (in this case, dancing).
You can work on the general fitness at a gym using the elliptic cross-trainer, the step climber and some sensible weights, followed by stretching exercises (there will be a professional at the gym to advise you). Running is excellent to build aerobic fitness, but avoid hard surfaces.
But there will be some things that you can only regain by dancing.
