I am looking for a dance instructor who can teach me the required dance steps for attaining this competence level for American Smooth Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, and Viennese Waltz. It is really become a challenge to find teachers who are in the midwest region of the U.S.A.

A few points here...finding a teacher to teach you Bronze Syllabus Smooth from a specific syllabus isn't always easy. There are many different syllabi out there for American style. If your teacher didn't learn the one you want to learn, then your teacher will have to learn it too. When I was working on Silver Syllabus Smooth using the DVIDA syllabus, my coach didn't know that syllabus and spent a lot of time going through the manual figuring out what the steps were. Sometimes she'd look at a step chart, think about it and try to dance it, and then realize it was something we already knew but had a different name. Regardless, a lot of lesson time was spent on her figuring things out. If we had just let her teach us the syllabus she learned things would have gone a lot faster.

As for Bronze syllabus in USABDA goes, you might not have to dance all four dances at Bronze level. I know back when I was doing Smooth we only had to know Waltz, Tango, and Foxtrot for Bronze and Silver. Different competitions are different, though, so you have to check the entry forms...however, you don't necessarily have to learn Viennese Waltz right away, and having one less dance to do might make it easier to get started.

USABDA competitions commonly have the statement that any commonly used-syllabus is acceptable for their competitions, so you don't necessarily have to use the steplist on their web site. You could learn DVIDA, Arthur Murray, Fred Astaire, US Terpsichore, US-ISTD. So, you might not need to find a teacher who can teach you the USABDA step list, but rather someone who can prepare you for Bronze-level Smooth in general.

I don't think the original poster has a teacher yet - that's why the question here.

The important information that's missing though is the location - "midwest" is pretty big.
