Groups and timing

I was speaking to a professional who said that if he was outside and looking through a window and could not hear the music, there are many times that he could not tell you which dance they were doing. The same groups are being used in the swing dances, and not only that they start a reverse movement at the beginning on time and finish at the end of the floor on time but the bit in between is unreadable. Just one big blurr. And the judges mark. Is he right??

I would say to you and the Pro looking in the window that the "bit in between" should be left to those who have a practiced knowledge of what to look for and could do it not only with ear muffs but eye patches as well. The people in the room (That would be on the other side of the window) could give a rip what you or any other peeping tom Pro has to say because you are outside doing nothin but criticizing while they are inside accomplishing something. If you new who actually said the above you would be shocked at the amount of titles they have won during their competing career, and you would shut up. But first learn how to read correctly.

I could care less how many titles he or she won or is it bought?. Does that mean I am not supposed to be able to offer my opinion or differ with them? Your question is pointless. I mean who cares except the people doing the "Bit in between".Anything else is fodder only for a pointless argument that serves to go on and on but changes nothing. Free speech forever!!!

Look I did this myself. i used the same group a reverse movement in four dances including the Tango. The entry was slightly different for each dance but basicly everything else was the same. In the Tango I cut out any rise and fall and even did a Double Reverse Spin flat. Every thing finished with a Throwaway Oversway. But was that good dancing. I imagined the judges saying. "Here he goes again".

Yes. I would say that is good dancing. Would I say "Here he goes again?" Yes. I would also interject the fact that obviously many, many patterns are the same but different once put to various timing. The overriding factor is how the students or pros add their flair to them thus...the difference.
