ok heres the deal. i started privates last year and i LOVED it. now i cant do them anymore for a few reasons. one of them is i can no longer afford them. i cant do group classes either. i really want to dance again. thats all i think about. when im older (im only 15)i want to teach dance and compete as a professional. right now that dream is looking pretty slim and i dont know what i can do. i think about dancing 24/7. everyday it makes me really sad. anything i can do?

Hello,

If you really love dance, you should dance. Find a way. You know all the resources available to you, but here are some ideas:

* Get a part time job
* Talk to the staff at your high school. If they do not have any dance programs, you might be able to take classes at another high school.
* Talk to the owner of the dance program you used to be a part of. Maybe there are scholarships or grants? Maybe you could do some reception/admin work for them in exchange for a reduced tuition?

Their are tons of other options and your life will change so much when you graduate high school that what you are doing now is only temporary.

Take advantage of the resources available to you and keep asking around until you find something that works for you.

What other reasons exist other than financial?

Helene's suggestion of doing some reception work at a studio is definitely a good way to go. A lot of studios will hire someone your age or a little older to work the desk (make calls, answer phones, schedule lessons). They usually do the work in exchange for lessons. It allows the studio to get essentially free help since they can teach you in between appointments, and you get to learn to dance. Win-win situation for both parties.

Good luck.
