What is the best brand and why? What should I be looking for?

Thanks!

The best brand is the one that fits you right, stays on your feet, and doesn't give you weird pains when you dance in them.

I can't tell you which brand is best because everyone's feet are different and everyone has their favorites. Some brands commonly worn by competitors are:

Dance Naturals
Supadance
International
Freed
Diamant

Personally, I've tried Freed, Werner Kern, Supadance, International, Capezio, Dance Naturals, and Diamant. My personal favorite is Diamant. Other people swear by Dance Naturals. Others wear only Supadance. There are literally hundereds of combinations of styles, heel heights, and sizes to choose from. I hate to tell you this, but it took me about seven years to find the best pair for my feet!

yeah it all depends on what fits your feet best. i sugest you look at Eckse though. I find them very comfortable. they are very flexible and have a good abount of padding for the ball of your foot. ive never gotten a blister even once from them and they are very well made. i think it would be worth your time to at least check them out. i also recomend that you not buy online. go to a dance store and have a sales person help you, what you might think fits probably isint the right fit. good luck!

I agree -- don't buy online until you have found a brand/style/size that you know works for you. It's really important to have someone who knows ballroom shoes help you to pick brands and styles to try on the first few times.

Of course, there generally aren't big ballroom dance shoe stores, which poses a problem for people who live places with no ballroom shoe sellers. If you are somewhere that there are dance competitions, sometimes shoe vendors will be there. Generally the larger the competition, the more vendors there will be, and the more brands and styles of shoes will be available for you to try on.

If you are near New York - World Tone (230 7th Ave) has a good selection and the staff is extremely helpful.

Hey! As has been mentioned people do swear by different manufactures and i swear by supadance, but then again my sister swears by Freed!
I thought it was just worth mentioning that with Supadance you are able to send the shoes back for any reason, as long as they have only been wor on carpet. they detect this using the soles of the shoe.

Best wishes in finding the right pair, when you do your'l just know!!
