Depends on the height, age, gender and such.

I for one am 14, female, 5'5", and weigh 120 lbs, alot of which is muscle.

Some kids in my studio/class weigh less, some weigh more, it all kind of depends on alot of factors (muslce is one, some kids I know freak out when they gain some weight but alot of the weight that a dancer, any kind of dancer, gains is usually muslce and not fat. Trust me, I learnt the hard way).

But since I believe you are a ballroom dancer (I don't know if that's correct or not, I just seem to recall that you are) then I don't think you should worry about your weight at all.

Besides, even heftier dancers can still be really good. One kid in my ballet class is a little (well maybe more then a little) on the hefty side and she is an awesome dancer and wins festivals and goes to provincials and all that dandy stuff. So I don't think it really matters all that much.

THANX...I'm 15, 5'1'' and about 128-133 pounds but not muscle...I am a ballroom dancer but I hope I'm not too big to do Jazz or tap.

My weight fluxuated during my ballet career, and yes, I found when I was carrying more weight it was more difficult to get good roles - because of "fitting into the costume" and also the look. That is the superficial side, which I agree should not be a concern if you are just in it to have fun.

However, during the times when I was at peak shape (strong, eating healthy, with a low body fat percentage) my energy level was high, I had better balance, and felt more confident.

I have never been extremely underweight, but have seen friends who were and had issues of low energy. Also an obsession with weight takes away from your confidence and distracts your mind from concentrating on more important matters.

Focus on your health and what you are putting in your body. If you look at BMI charts and weight ranges shoot for the lower part (but definitely still in the healthy range).
