my partner are dancing for 4years together. We started as beginners, got on very well together, until I started to get better after each lesson. I felt he was pulling me back because he did'nt pick up steps as fast as I did. I understood this, and was very patient with him but it is still very tiresome for me as I feel he forgets his steps, I get quite aggitated with him. We fight quite a bit sometimes we even broke up for 3months to take a break so to speak. we discussed, the issues and both agreeded of he told me I was far advanced than he was. The last straw came when we stayed off the compitition floor for 6months, took private lessons relaxed enjoyed it moire than ever. We decided to go back .when we danced on our first comp he completely froze on the floor. I did'nt give out but he saw it on myu face. we gave up again. still have'nt gone back. When I dance with other comp experience dancers I feel on top of the world I always get on so well. Please Am I wasting my time with this man or not. Or I like him as a person but keeop on hoping for some fabellous dancer around the corner

Dancing is not about remembering steps, it is about dancing.

Plan to use extremely simply sequences... the shortest possible repeating unit in each dance. Take those into competitions a few times, then build from there.
