I am not sure how to go about finding someone who:

1) is a little more than beginner

2) wants to compete

3) dances in a way that I am comfortable with

and I did already look at ISO Partners - no one near enough

go to socials and meet people. go to competitions and meet people. find the teachers competitors study with and study with them as well.

This is kind of funny.

I went onto match.com, looking for a dance partner. Nine months later we were married! I seriously was only looking for someone to dance with. Am I lucky or what??

that is a great story - but happily married me only wants some one who is fairly serious about dancing - thanks for your suggestions, Anon.

Choose which practices you want to attend. Go to them and you'll meet people there.

If you meet people through the Web, that may work but it is harder to find someone who already dances in or near your community.

I watched all the guys who were already competing in my area, and when one became available who I liked, I asked him for a tryout.
