Standing up

We are all familiar with the examples given us by some of our super coaches. Which is. We have three blocks of wood. One under the ribcage. One in the middle
and the other at the pelvis level. We must keep those blocks of wood one on top of the other. Pop the middle one forward, we have an arched back. Pop it out the back and our bottom sticks out.
Now what could be simpler than that to get an understanding of poise and balance.

I agree that there is little that could be simpler to understand poise and balance. However, the real problem is in the implementation in a dynamic situation

Phil. Unless your setup is correct at the beginning everything you do will be a compromise. Instead of ploughing into groups much more time must be spent on the setup, or if you like poise. Some friends of mine went to the UK to compete and for lessons. In their first few lessons the whole 50 minutes was spent on the above. Another couple i know struck something simular in the Samba. They at first never got past eight bars of music without being stopped and sent back to the beginning. They said later that it was the best thing that ever happend to them. So there you go
