Changes to Variation Game Plan

Last year we filmed 40 new variations. Since then, 30 of them have been posted to the website. There are now just 10 remaining to be seen.

Now I have some good news and some bad news...

Let's start with the bad: You're going to have to wait to see those last 10 variations. Instead, I am going to re-run the first 30. In the process I will be buying myself extra time to produce the last 10, so that I can truly cycle them at a rate of one per week, and the "Variation of the Week" can finally once again live up to its name.

In order to keep up with the once-per-week schedule, I would have to spend the majority of my website time working on producing these variations, with very little time to spend on anything else -- editing the smooth variation DVD, for example. Since that's not realistic, I have been slowing down the pace to a bi-weekly or sometimes even a monthly variation cycle. This is not acceptable to me, so I have decided to resort to reruns to buy myself some extra time.

Now the good news: With 30 reruns, I have 30 weeks to produce 10 variations. That's approximately one every 3 weeks, which is manageable. When it's time to release them, they will have already been produced. In other words, from now on, the variations will truly cycle once per week.

Best of all, I have (for the first time ever) automated the process of rotating the variations! That means that variations will rotate every Monday morning at 12:01 am. Guaranteed. Even when I'm on vacation.

Now that I have more time to spend on other projects, expect to see big changes on this website between now and the end of the year, including the DVD of smooth variations, and even improvements to this message board!

Jonathan Atkinson
