I love dancing and i really want to get lessons and learn more about ball room dances and latin dances, but what's the youngest age you can start? I'm only 13. When ever i mention ball room dancing people always say it's only for old people but i really want to learn stuff like the tango and maybe one day be in a dance competion. they have young dance competitors (who are in early 20's or so). so how do they start? please, can some one give me advice or information. i'd really apreciate it.

Most of the very young competitors come from studios that specialize in training them at that age - starting often well before age 10. But the more adult you can be in your approach, the more likely a teacher at an ordinary studio would be willing to work with you.

Look for dance studios where you live and call them up and see if they have a youth program. Prices vary from something like $10 per one hour group class to $75 for a private lesson. You have to look around because it's different everywhere. This web site has a list of teachers and studios, click on "Dance Directory" in the left hand column on this page.
