Fast or slow music.

An interesting comment came from one of the judges in our Dancing with the Stars
A couple was asked why in Modern, they chose a tune which was a bit on the slow side.
They just liked the music. The judge went on to say that for a beginner slow music is too difficult to manage. When you think about it, the shorter the stride the faster the music needs to be. And of course the longer the stride the slower the music. And yet with a beginners class we mostly play the music slowly, don't we . I wonder if we are doing them a favour. Just a reminder , the dancing was the International Style Standard.

Easiest at first to play the slow dances (waltz, foxtrot) a little too fast and the fast dances (quickstep, viennese) too slow.
