Breathing...

Hi. Having had a one-off lesson from one of the successful competition ballroom dancers, I was pulled up because of my breathing. It seems that I should breath out on lowering and only breath in when rising. When my next lesson arrived with my regular coach he said, 'Is he back on that one again!'.

Dancefad. Looking at one of the other sections here. Waltz 30 bars in one
minute = 1 bar every 2 seconds. That's in and then out = one bar of music gone. Who do you think is correct ??

The concept of the breathing was that the air in your lungs gave you extra lift during the rise. i.e. Waltz. Change Step. Breath out on one. Breath in on two and three.

Dancefad. I don't see how anyone could do a rise there without breathing in. I know I can't. It might be possible to hold the breath into the next bar. But who would want to. I find it almost impossible. Seems this is much to do about nothing.
