Slow Foxtrot

Hi.
Had a lesson yesterday morning with one of the top coaches in ballroom. I had to dance a Feather; Reverse Turn; Reverse Wave; Chasse Roll and Weave Ending into a Change of Direction. He first of all danced the routine with my wife. He immediately pulled me up for turning my hips into step one of the Reverse (lady's heel turn) and told me only to turn the shoulders. He explained that by not turning the hips it takes the pressure off my wife's body which in turn helps her to control the closing of the feet on her heel turn. My wife agreed that she felt much more comfortable when I did this. Has anyone else had this given to them?

Not seeing what you are doing, its sounds like "two wrongs make a right". IS he creating another fault to correct the first. I am not a teacher so my advice is not worth very much. Dave

Curious. For me the most important instruction I have received for a Feather Step is on the first step Slow
CBM. On the third step Quick CBMP. To me it feels like I am unwinding going into the Reverse which I don't have to worry about, It just happens. Lady needs the CMBP also. We are also taught that the first step of the Reverse for the lady is big for the man small. As a man don't pile drive into this one. Just let it happen. Having had this proved to me I began to look farther afield at other steps.
