Foxtrot Variation

I saw a variation for the foxtrot here once where the female leans on the back/side of the male as he leans forward. How can I find this variation again?! I told my instructor about it and he's wanting to see it. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Gracefluklutz. It would be better if you could put which style you are refering to. I take it that it is American Smooth and not the International style where the lady will never lean on the man. I think the bit you are refering to was on very recently. You may have to wait till next time around. Keep dancing and watch this site..

Don, thanks for your reply. Yes, I was referring to the American Smooth style and that variation was on in November I believe. I'll keep watching the site and see if they post it again ... as well as dance my little feet off! Happy Holidays to everyone!

That was in Oct 2004. I expect that that variation will be in the SMOOTH dvd when that is finally ready. The steps were:

Hairpin Twinkle (Traveling Contra Check), Flip-Flops with RH-RH hold, Lady's Inside Underarm Turn (double hand-hold), Change of Places to cuddle position (lady behind), Cuddly Lunge Thing, Lady's Underarm Swivel, Free Spin to Left, Curved Feather (Hairpin), Hesitation Change.

Clearly, the technical term for that lean is "Cuddly Lunge Thing"; how come your instructor isnt familiar with that? (ho=ho=ho)

If you want, I do have the steps documented. Email me if you want the word doc for that.

I'll be glad to send you the written docs. Just email me.

I assume that my sharing the Word file with the description of the steps is not a problem with Jonathan. If it is, I hope someone will tell me?????

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you! I will be sure to email you for the word doc of those steps. My instructor (from my description .. which if you could see me describe something makes ones eyes cross to just watch!) probably does know it, but because I'm just beginning I have no clue as to the correct terms to use so I get kinda artfully and visually descriptive (which turns out more like a comic mime than an accurate visual!). Right now he's trying to break my bad leading/control habits and teaching me the basics to perfection before allowing me to move on to more complicated things. You'll be happy to know I'm becoming a very nice follower and am leaving my male tendencies behind! :::hee hee:::

I really wonder if your instructor will "know" the cuddly lunge thing. I believe it is unique. Johnathan must have been having a supreme creative spurt when he invented it. I truly hope that the Word description helps.

Jerry:

Talked to my instructor on Wednesday, he has no clue what the "cuddly lunge thing" is but he's willing to learn. I read on one of Jonathans' posts that the videos may be available for download in 2006 for members/subscribers. This is a very nice thing to know and I'm sure I'll sign up to keep on top of things on this site! Maybe by the time these things are available again, I'll be at the level to try them with confidence. Thanks for all of your help.
