Flexibility

I love dancing, and have done ballet and other dancing for ages, but i have a problem with my flexibility. I can only just touch my toes, and i have trouble with any moves that require a certain amount of suppleness. I really need to become more supple, and i need to be able to do the splits. Can anyone help me?

Try taking yoga or Pilates lessons.

hi! i did ballet for eight years and had the exact same problem. I had tried to stetch every night so i could do the splits but then soon gave up. a few years later i became motivated to do the splits because i really needed the extra flexibility to become a better ballerina. I became extremely motivated to do the slpits. i bought a pilates dvd. this helped me alot but what helped me most of all was stretching everynight. Try doing a hip flexer stretch first. This is when 1 leg goes foward bent and the other leg back and on the ground. you then press down to get a stretch in ur quads. (sorry its hard to explain maybe look it up on the internet) Then go back onto that leg and do a hamstring stretch. then slowly go down with both legs out and try to get down as far as possible to the splits. hold for 10 sec and then slowly come up and do the other leg. Do this everyday and u will see dramatic improvements. I am speaking from experience. I can now go strait down into the splits without it hurting! the hard work sure does pay off! I hope that helps!!
