Working to Hard

When dancing my routines I always feel that I am rushing or working to hard. I try to keep the body moving at one speed most of the time even when dancing syncopations. I know we drift certain figures such as the passing natural ,the lock in the syncopated weave and in other places and can do that. It is the turns that seem rushed. I may be staying up to long,or putting to much energy into what I am doing. Any suggestions. Thanks Dave.

It's probably not one exact thing, but is really just what your coach is saying: you are working too hard, so don't do that. Relax, and just let the movement carry you. Dancing is not a foot race, after all. If you've been developing your technique then what you need to do is probably all there (or there enough for what you're doing right now), so don't overwork and overthink it, just dance it. See how lazy you can be and still produce the dancing you want.
