Best Place to Dance?

Hi, I will be moving away to college in a year and I am beginning to strongly think about where I am to go. I have been dancing for 8 years, 1 of them ballroom, but I have decided that ballroom is what I have to do in life. I do, however, still plan on attending university but I want to know what city would be the best place for me to go in order to further my ballroom/latin career. I am allowed to move anywhere in the U.S., or any British commonwealth country as I have a British birth certificate/passport... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you are really sure this is your career, I'd recommend figuring out who you want to be your coach for the next few years and, if that person agrees, move somewhere it will be convenient to study with them. You should probably have some trial lessons and serious discussions with prospective coaches before you make that big a commitment.

Good luck!

Hi!!

I would strongly reccomend the DC metropolitan area! There are excellent universities in the area as well as a huge dance scene. Georgetown University, George Washington University, and Maryland University all have EXCELLENT ballroom teams and you will receive free coaching! Something I would love to be able to have at my university. At least 4 major competitions come to the tri-state area every year and there are countless more that are driving distance away! Good luck on your decision making!
