Hi Jonathan,

Where is Step 4 of the Feather Step? At the Feather Ending of the Reverse Turn you danced the corresponding step no 7.

But I have to say: a VERY good website, with these helpful video clips and the discussion forum.
I always recommend it to all my advanced dancers who know the english language a little bit (some of them are from the former Eastern Germany and unfortunatly had Russian instead of English at school.)

"Where is Step 4 of the Feather Step? At the Feather Ending of the Reverse Turn you danced the corresponding step no 7."

The given action for step 7 of the reverse/feather finish is much more likely to be used in actual dancing than the given action for step 4 of the feather. This is because the three step follows from step 7, but something like a reverse turn replaces the action of step 4 of the feather with a different action for its initial step.

The section on movement seems to be written about american foxtrot, with it's mention of bronze chasses and different movement style starting at silver

Could be. I probably copied and pasted the info years ago when I first created it, figuring I'd get back to it later. Now would probably be a good time.

Jonathan

Sort of an oversight. We danced it with a prep instead. For the supplemental shoot, I might go back and do a Feather with the following step (step 4) and no prep. I'm still on the fence about whether to use it to replace the current version, or show both versions, one being labeled "Feather Step" and the other "Feather Step (shown with prep action)", to demonstrate how one might begin the dance.

It also might be a nice idea to show the 6 or 7 different types of Feather as described in the ISTD book (eg Feather Step, Feather Step starting O.P., Feather Finish, etc).

The other idea I had was on the Three Step: Instead of showing two different versions the way we do now (the "book" version RLR and the "common practice" version LRL), it would be less confusing *and* more consistent with the other figures to dance it as 4 steps: SQQS. That way one clip would fill both roles, while eliminating the confusion. Some people would see it as a QQS, with a prep step beforehand. Others would see it as SQQ, with the an extra "slow" afterwards, being the first step of the following pattern (much like the other figures). But however the viewer sees it, we've satisfied both types while eliminating the confusion. This, I think, is a better solution than what we have now.

Also, I hate the Impetus. I might go back and re-shoot that just for the sake of showing a better quality of dancing. But we'll have to see what time allows for.

Jonathan
