Bolero songs

I'm looking for a Bolero song. I'd like something that has been recorded in the last decade or so. A "newer" band, if you will. Any suggestions?

One that springs to mind is Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On," the theme song to the film Titanic. That's from 1997, barely wiithin your "decade" requirement, and perhaps not exactly a "new band" -- but she does quite a few other slow songs that are also well-suited for American-style Bolero.

More recent stuff? I'll have to look over what I've got and get back to you -- but, hey, I'm getting old enough to cringe at the music they play in Sam Goody's nowadays... someone else may have better suggestions.

I just want something newer than the rat pack. I'm not crazy about Celine and time frame is great even the 1970's or 80's would be okay.

Sorry, forgot to look at my stuff last night. But three more top-40's songs:

Color of the Wind -- Vanessa Williams
She's like the Wind -- Patrick Swayze
Into the Night -- Benny Mardones

Both of the first two are from movies; I like the first much better than the second....

Gloria Estefan has a bolero on the album Mi Tierra, though I can't recall which one(s) they are right now (Maybe "Con Los Anos Que Me Quedan"?).Look at some of Linda Ronstadt's Spanish titles, too... The Mambo Kings did two versions of "Beautiful Maria of My Soul," one in English, one in Spanish -- ones a bolero, I forget which (the other's a rumba).

You can also do an Internet search "bolero dance music" and look at the info some dance studios put up -- often includes names/artists of 3-4 examples of popular songs with the right tempo. Just make sure they're talking about American (Carribbean) bolero, not the unrelated and much-faster dance of Spain....

Sorry, Beutiful Maria was by the Mambo All-Stars, not the Mambo Kings. Gloria Estefan: "Hablas de mi," "Me voy," "Volveras," and "Here We Are." Laura Fabian: "To Love Again." Alejandro Fernandez: "Me estoy enamorando," "No sera iqual." Enrique Iglesias: "Por amarte," "Si tu te vas," "No llores por mi." Linda Ronstadt: "Alma adentro," "Verdada amarga." Christian Castro: "Volver a amar." All from a CD I burned for bolero.

Note that since Jonathon has added a section on bolero, so there's a listing of bolero songs on this site...somewhere. He starts a list here, at the bottom of the page... but the link to continue to takesd you to a rumba page. I know some, esp. International, rumba can be almost as slow as bolero, so maybe they're mixed...? I'll drop him a note....

Have fun, good luck: bolero is one of my favorites.
