Crystals v.s. Glass

Do you think there is a big difference when using glass instead of crystal? Is it "that" noticable on the floor? I'm torn but with the price of crystals...I'd appreciate your opinions.

"Crystal" IS glass - a special sort of leaded glass. There are quality differences between brands (nominally between country of origina) but how much is the material used and how much the precision of the cutting, who knows.

I realize that crystal is glass but the lead gives it that little extra bling. But you can get plain glass for so much less...but the question is will it be worth it. If "plain" glass is used will a "normal" viewer be able to tell the difference, will it compromise the costume? Has anyone used them or seen them on the floor and what was your opinion...is basically my question.

Who sells plain glass? As far as I can tell the cheap stones are just poorly made.

I haven't put them on a garment yet but they look pretty good. I got them from www.embroiderysew.com. The only thing is they don't have that little extra edge that the leaded ones do. It's like a diamond vs zirconia.

Sorry but that address I gave you for the glass is incorrect. I purchased regular hot fix swaroski's from that address.

I'm not a fan of the glass. It doesn't sparkle or reflect the same way the leaded crystal does. You can save some money by buying Czech brand, "Preciosa." They look almost as good as Swarovski, and don't cost quite as much.
