Hi Kimberley,
On the one hand I agree that the more experienced dancers should be considerate of queries from beginners, giving them information that they are ready to receive and understand. Far to often a thread that starts as simple request for beginner information is turned into a deep technical discussion at the earliest possible opportunity that only the very experienced competitive dancer can begin to comprehend.
On the other hand this forum has become one place on the net where the more experienced competitive dancer can post a request for help or explanation, etc. to a long standing and seemingly intractable problem and actually get back intelligent responses that provide plausible solutions. Often they are looking for a deep and comprehensive response. At the very least it will start a debate among the hardcore techies and somewhere in the arguments and counter arguments of thread is the answer. I don't think you would want to lose that. Believe me, you will appreciate the opportuntity to tap into the collective wisdom as you continue dancing.
Perhaps the answer is to make clear the level of dancer you are. If a beginner gets a response that they cannot comprehend then say so and I'm sure you will get a favourable response from the poster.
I know that you're not suggesting this but personally, it would be sad to see is this forum trivialized into social, chit-chat drivel of one-liners and emoticons like some of the other dance forums where there are pages and pages of sweet nothings.
