Is completing a bronze level test necessary to comepete? Is it enough to do the training, learn the steps and enter competitions?

What type of competition would be the first kind to do? I am already over 30yrs old and only now able to afford trying to follow my goal of ballroom competition and I want to be very efficient! How aggressive can I be in this sport? (from Toronto, Canada)

As far as I know in north america you can enter almost anything without prequalification beyond simply registering with the right organization; in Europe you have to work up through competition levels in order but do not have to take a medal test.

Any competition you can find, but preferably one that has a moderate turnout in the beginner levels. Some competitions may have many events with no entries at all or only one or two in that level, so you may have to choose carefully. Talk to your teacher or try to see the results from last year as the size usually doesn't change much year to year.

We started to learn at the age of 40 in Toronto and went on to win prechampions in international style. a good teacher is ecential and more important than medals. Try Victor & Helon Ross,Anne Trafford Harding,Beverly & Robert Tang,Anna Devoist etc.
